Friday 7th links n things

Posted by Scott on November 7th, 2008 .

Off to Edinburgh tomorrow to meet up with some developers & domainers, should be fun.

The lawn sign based business is a great article where the author investigated the origin of multiple dating lawn signs, an enjoyable read.

Humour: This video is old, unrelated but pretty damn funny.

The Pirate Bay has always filled a gap that Hollywood seems reluctant to fill, rather than withhold and sue they could embrace the online world, The Pirate Bay broke a new record recently with 22 million users.

Freeporntube.com sells for $34,800 crickey that seems a tad expensive.

Make sure when you download your versions of Wordpress you do it only from the official site, seems to be some trojanised copies being offered for download which would make for a bad start to your new site. I presume that should also apply to downloading plugins as well.

Game: Build the highest tower possible with 99 bricks, tetris with a spin.

Hmm, hadnt heard of that, something to look out for although I get my Wordpress installations directly from my host via Fantastico and then use the Wordpress upgrade plugin to keep it upto date.

An important warning!

Yes, a good security reminder – This should apply to any software, not just wordpress.

That domain name is probably over-priced!

I love British humour. Although, I’m really not sure if this is real or not!

Scott, how many people do you have working for you? You always seem to be on the go and I’m amazed you have the time to do any work!!

What??? Where do you find the time for all your different sites? Then again, I have a day job that I’m trying to leave – there’s nothing more appealing than working hard for yourself rather than putting than the time in for other people :)

The domain is a little bit overpriced in my opinion. Doesn’t look that much worthy.

Oooh have fun in Edinburgh. I just finished a chapter in “A Cooks Tour” by Anthony Bourdain all about Edinburgh and it sounds like an awesome place. Bring back haggis! :)

What a joke that freeporntube sale is, fair play to the seller is all I can say!

I really liked to story about the lawn signs, very interesting investigative work. I had seen the signs when I was in the US on holiday a few months ago, they are everywhere. Obviously a lucrative business.

Who would have thought that such a simple looking sign could be at the forefront of a really interesting story – “lawn sign based business”. I love the fact that they stole the sign, as if it was for evidence. Excellent detective skills though!

Just been on Piratebay this afternoon.
Almost 23 million users now! So another 1million users in less than three months.
All this negative publicity that is thrown at them by the big corporates – just makes them stronger, the harder they try and close them, the more popular they become – love it!
