PCs update and a couple of links

Al is off to Think Tank, so it’s not all sweat and tears being a blogger, I managed to install WordPress for the first time on PCs, being a blogging virgin there was actually a lot of things to do so the blog checklist Al did ealrier in the year was actually really handy for me :)

I think I have pretty much most of the important things ticked off now, waiting for a logo to come back and I think I shall be all set to begin, btw I’d appreciate any link love any of you can throw my way ;) It’s going to a be a slow uphill struggle but I am looking forward to it. Note to self, must resiste the urge to install every plugin known to man.

The good thing about having such a nice short generic term like PCs.co.uk is that it gets some type in traffic so on day one I am getting around 40-50 visitors per day, bonus! So I have had my head down that last couple of days getting everything set up and discussing logo’s, thanks to Jon if your reading this, I decided to go with logodesign-uk.com which you linked to in the comments on Al’s logo post, I had 15 choices and although tempted to go with something really jazzy I ended up going with a plain and simple logo which works for me, they also did a deal and would give me the same version for TVs.co.uk so 2 for 1.

Some people have made some big mistakes but if this video is true then Hubert Chang is a bigger loser than most and even bigger than the 5th Beatle, Hubert claims to be the 3rd Google guy/inventor.

Thankfully the European parliament killed off the recent attempt to regulate bloggers

Asking for help on the internet can be dangerous, unproductive and sometimes very funny!

SFW porn that’s safe for work

Edit: I see toolbar pagerank is updated for some of my sites

  1. Your PCs blog seems to be off to a pretty sweet start, doesn’t give the impression of being a starter site.

That photo help thing made me laugh out loud, that’s just quality humour.

  2. Scott, what would you want the like to the site to say? I’ll help you out with a few links from different sites. No prob.

  3. I just met Al over at SEO Think Tank. I managed to get a picture with him before they kicked me out. I’ll have to post it. Both of us just wanted to tell you, “Hi!”

  4. Is this the first site you have used WordPress then? I have found it very helpful given I am not a coder or a web developer.

There are some excellent plugins around but yes, its very much a case of sorting the wheat from the chaff.

Did you use a free template or make your own? I used a freebie for my company website but have notice problems with IE - the header font is way too big - perfect when viewed through Firefox. No idea how to fix it - something to do with different stylesheets apparently…

Best of luck with Pcs - I cant see how that can possibly fail to churn out cash.

  5. I would guess you are currently chasing pc.co.uk as well. I wouldnt have thought of going for the plural version of domains - food for thought

  6. SFW Porn… something to brighten up my evening! The Photoshop request forum post was also another hilarious moment. Rather ticklish.

  7. The PCs site looks good - where are you getting your content from? Are you writing it yourself or buying it?

    • Thanks John, got the logo sorted now, so far it’s all just me, I spent the last few days going through most manufacturers and getting on their press release mailing lists and I have a list of retailers I can check for special offers, pretty time consuming just now.

  8. Scott are you hosting your sites at different hosting accounts or do you have all your sites in a few baskets?

The reason I’m asking is that I am thinking of getting different accounts with different providers to get more value when interlinking sites.

  10. very nice template and it’s interesting that you get so many visitors to your site just from tying the domain name in.. thats more visitors than some of my sites get on their best traffic days!

  11. Hi Scott

Glad you got a good service from logodesign-uk, the logo looks good, as does the site (though the menu bar at the top is wrapping onto two lines which looks a bit odd)

Yoast.com has a great article on WordPress SEO which I followed religiously when I setup my first WP site (and it seems to have worked!)

    Cheers, Jon
