Economics and emails
Quick quick post today - I recently upgrading an email forwarder to a pop3 box on one of my main domains but forgot to add it to my receive list in my email client (I used to already send from that email), when I worked it out this morning it had 1287 emails in it of which at least 250 were not spam..oooooops!
Bad bad start to a day.. numpty! If there is a fine line between greatness and stupidity then I feel I’m certainly walking on the wrong side of the road today
Anyway - back on topic, as with anything that appears in the news with all this talk of the economy in turmoil and recessions I just get fed more and more ideas for domains, must try and switch off but I can’t, couple of weeks ago I decided to check on economics to see what was there and it was not in use so I purchased it from the previous owner for £1750.
Would make a good site for business jobs, books, news, rates and all things that probably pay well.
If any of you wanted to come up with an idea for that domain/site and quote for putting it together please do get in touch - probably have a budget of up to around $2000 for the right content & idea, would have to be aimed at the UK audience. Or if you know of someone who may be interested in developing the domain get in touch, open to ideas on it. I feel it’s too nice a domain to leave on the shelf doing nothing. I better get back to answering some emails

Get an economics graduate to write a blog on it to get things started off.
Get that sucker a jop portal immediately. I am currently paying £250 a month to advertise jobs! You would make a killing
I think £1750 is bargain for economics.co.uk. I saw today DealOfTheDay.co.uk went for £13,616, I would prefer your domain Scott!
Thanks Chris, I think it was a good buy - the domain was not listed for sale either so had to dig up contact details for the owner.
Why not use one of those scripts you have had developed and draw in economic news from all the economic news sites already online? Sure it would generate some duplicate content but maybe you could add some twist to it?

Very nice purchase Scott.
You certainly seem to have a knack for digging out decent neglected domains.
If it was me, I would a temporarily draw in feeds from around the economic world.
Then I would be tempted to turn the site into a what’s going on portal, find a couple of people who are economists but are also pretty adept at translating things into simple English, University under grads 3rd years would be the cheap option secondary school economics/business teachers another. Uni lecturer depending on budget. Get them writing what does this mean for us style posts. So an article on Interest Rates etc etc.
Also look at a couple of tools, mortgage calculator, currency conversion, stock tracker.
Then I would again noting the budget do a short couple of fun videos, to promote the articles make it wacky try and get people interested in visiting the articles and build up from there.
Not original I know but a sound strategy that can be repeated over and over again. By lowering the level even though its a high brow domain name your going to increase traffic. Such a site would be perfect for affiliate marketing.
Hi Scott
That is a great purchase, and a bargain, I think you could make a decent profit on that domain if you ever sell it.
You could develop a nice finance website on it, like tim said above a finance news aggregator to begin with would be a good idea until you have developed it.
Good luck with it
“… fine line between greatness and stupidity …”. That’s a classic quote from here on out. Odd how something that ssems so simple sometimes turns out to be the Gotcha you didn’t see coming.
