Kontera Offering a $25 Bonus to New Publishers

I’ve received an email from Mika of Kontera about an offer they have on for new publishers, where if you get 50,000 impressions in you your first month you’ll receive a $25 bonus.

Kontera provide those in-text adverts that normally appear as double underlined links, they are pay per click but I’ve heard some larger publishers have been able to negotiate fixed CPM deals. I have used Kontera in the past and still do on one of my sites, however I found I got a better return with a similar service offered by Chitika. I would quite like to trial Kontera again on my gadget blog however they changed their TOS a while ago to include an exclusivity clause:

2.5. Exclusivity. On all Publisher Websites, Publisher will ensure that Kontera is the exclusive source of any services that are similar to the ContentLink Service for the term of this Agreement.

Which means I’d have to remove smy higher paying ads to give them another try and then by tied to Kontera for a period of time.

The other annoying thing about this is I can no longer log into their control panel to see how my other site is performing, as I’d have to agree to the terms of service first.

Having said all that if you fancy checking out Kontera (their customer service was excellent) no would be a great time to do it with the $25 bonus and if they ever change their exclusivity clause I’d be happy to try them again.

  1. This exclusivity clause will make lots of publisher walk away. I really can’t understand why do they impose such things? What’s in it for them from exclusivity?

  2. I totally agree, I could understand not on the same site at the same time, but not on any of my sites err no thanks.

  3. I think it would be best if he removes the exclusivity clause, this will shun publishers despite the $25 bonus. Just my two cents. :)

  4. I’m also surprised they think that an exclusivity clause will not hurt the, I do have some sites that are not monetized presently & this could be the way to go as it would be quite complicated intergrating AS with all their do’s & dont’s.

  5. personally this offer puts me, mainly because I don’t fall in their category. Also I still have to wait until I get $50

  6. Hello,

My name is Vered and I am from Kontera.

Our exclusivity clause refers ONLY to other in text ad services. We have absolutely no problem with other forms of ads. In fact the majority of our publishers use ContentLink™ alongside adsense and others

We are excited to launch the $25 campaign and will be glad to welcome you as new publishers.
