I do believe there are several attributes Google looks after when talking about link's IPs. Having different Class C should not do you any good if the sites are registered by the same person for example (everyone has access to Whois, so it;s kind of logical for Google to use this factor in its algs, nay?)

Luckily, i have seen several sites hosted on the same Class C heavily linking between them and shortly after that their rankings and positions in Serps increased with qite a lot of positions. So... I have to agree with the folks claiming that this Class C problem is a myth. But, it depends...

Actually , the hyphenated domain would be better (just a little bit) from the strict SEO point of view than the non hyphenated one. But as Scott mentioned, there are other factors that have to be considered too when deciding on a domain

I read both articles, and neither comment on value of links on IP addresses within the same class C or D IP block. They are just about dedicated vs. shared/virtual.

It still stands to reason that your best bet for getting a site on the first page of results is to get high quality links from sites on other servers, because logically it can't be you trying to manipulate your own ranking...

From Matt Cutts himself - http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/myth-busting-virtual-hosts-vs-dedicated-ip-addresses/

Another Article - http://www.netpaths.net/articles/search-engine-myths.html

And I can't find the article that I really wanted to link to, but there was a really good one about this a little while ago.

I also do a bit of work with and chat to a couple of top SEOs in the UK and both agree theres nothing to be gained from using unique C classes.

I don't have anything that I can/will quote but I don't give it a large amount of weight, as always depends on what fights you are picking, I am not chasing 100+ million result terms, only on extremely competitive terms IMO do such things really come in to play.

The different IPs for SEO is a bit of a myth, I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Depends on how competitive the terms are, if its 1 to 3 million results it is usually pretty quick, if not then relative links work, same IP's or not. I don't get bogged down with some of the dross/stories you read on SEO making it more complicated than it actually is, simple works fine for me,for example in Google.co.uk LedBulbs.co.uk site is ranked No.1 and has made over $12 today.
