Everyclick show 150% increase and more…

I have made a few posts that need a follow up that can be bunched together rather than warrant new posts by themselves so without further ado:

everyclick2.jpgEveryclick
I reported that I noticed almost 1000 visitors per day coming in from Everyclick which is powered by ASK. (Everyclick.com is a search engine with a difference – it gives 50% of its revenue to charities)The trend is rising sharply and I hope those of you that took notice have made moves to make sure you are in ASK’s index because they are buying traffic and promoting themselves so worth trying to get some of that action.

I had good rankings in ASK and therefore in Everyclick so the increase in my traffic could probably be closely associated with the moves that Everyclick have made and should correlate to their own growth since early April.

In the last month I have received over 77,000 visitors from Everyclick averaging over 2500 per day up from the 1000 per day in April with quite a few peaks of 4000 per day! Yikes this train is fast, all aboard!

 Everyclick

So far it looks very much like paid traffic as Jamie mentioned in the comments of the original post , it is difficult to see how this can be sustained, but watch this space I’d say.

Mini Sites
Tattoo Fonts running the newly named Quick Links earned $669 in May together with it’s adsense income of $146 means the one page tool based mini site earned $815 for the month.

The newly launched Tattoo Tracer is getting just under 100 visitors per day but won’t be monetised for some time until some natural links build up.

My information one page mini sites have had really varying success earning anything from $1 up to $70 each for the month.

Using the competitive filter for Adsense
After posting that I had improved my Adsense income and overall cost per click by using the competitive filter to get rid of MFA & low paying advertisers I noticed a message in my Adsense account from the optimization teams stating

After an automatic review of your sites, we think you might be able to improve your monetization using the following tips: You may be filtering ads that monetize well on your site.

Hmm, well I decided to remove my list from the filter to let nature take its course and although my CTR rose a bit to give me more clicks, the resulting CPC and CPM dropped down again meaning I was no better off each day, in fact slightly worse off again. So I stick by my original post and for me using the competitive ad filter to filter poor paying ads although limits my advertiser pool and relevancy a bit, I am usually better of for it. Now if Google could introduce a base rate or lowest CPC for larger publishers I’d be happier to let things be.

  1. A little off the topic but you mentioned that you won’t be monetizing your new site tattootracer until it gets some natural backlinks. Why?

    • Sometimes putting ads on a site makes people think twice before linking to it.

I know I don’t like linking to sites that are full of ads.

Its for this reason I try to remove ads from posts that are likely to get on Digg and other social sites.

    • Not off topic that’s a good question, because like Tattoo Fonts its a nice handy tool and other webmasters are always wary and unlikely to link to a site that is monetised so leaving it as a free tool for the first 6 months to a year would allow people to find it, use it, recommend it and link to it naturally. Once it establishes itself better with more traffic then it can looked at again in the future.

      • I think not having ads on a page with a free tool is very important to start with, as theres nothing worse than seeing a tool with ads plastered all over it, ok when its getting traffic and got some good links then its not going to harm the site by sticking ads on, but I think in the early days it would affect the growth of the page quite badly.

      • And whats your position on ads on information type mini sites (according to your post on mini site)? Should be monetized from the start or use the same policy as you mentioned for the tattoo site?

        • Information type mini sites are not very viral so any backlinks are less likely, their purpose would be to rank for long tail key phrases & earn so ads should be placed for a good CTR on them from the start.

  2. How did you submit your site to everyclick?

  3. ASK.com power Everyclick for their search engine so make sure you are in ASK.com’s index.

After doing some filtering & i did exactly like you 🙂 decided to just let it run & not filter stuff, same results too 🙂 I think that message must be triggered if you add more than about 5 sites & is very genearic based uniquely on whether your filtering or not.

  5. What would cause the the large spikes in traffic at
Everyclick in February and again in June? (see chart - http://alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=everyclick.com)

    • Impossible to say seeing as a lot of their traffic seems to have been bought using PPC so could be advertising budget that caused it or press.

  6. Just saying thanks for the link to domainblog 🙂 If anyone wants to post their experiances of the domain market please get in touch!

  7. I took a look at QuantCast.com for EveryClick - http://www.quantcast.com/everyclick.com - and it looks like a good deal of their traffic is coming from sites like Tattoo.com (warning: tattoo.com is an adult site). Is this how they’re obtaining traffic?

  8. Hi
